It starts to get real
All joking aside, I did know that I needed to make some decisions or at least do some research. I keep saying "I" not "we" and that is mainly because the other half, who has already been married before, is so happy that I am happy and excited, that he is just letting me get on with things. We are making some decisions together but the finer details, well they are mine to run with.
Queue a lot of very late nights/early mornings of internet searches, Google searches and creating that moodboard also known as Pinterest.
This was a really interesting, for me, exercise and it was surreal how quickly my thinking turned from I have a general ideal of what I want to very definitely knowing what I did not want! The theme for this wedding really started to form and before I knew it, I had my colour palette, I knew what I wanted the feel of the wedding to be - the traditional elements, with fun thrown in and nothing too stuffy.
I also found myself moving away from the boho style dress that is going to cost under £150..... absolutely I could have stuck to this plan and if we had set a really tight, low budget then I would have done. I am not dissing having a low budget.
But more about the dress later/another post.
Wedding planning is just like project planning. What is the deliverable and what is the deadline. What is needed to get from A to B. Once I started thinking of it like that, bits fell into place.
We had set the theme with the venue - country barn, early evening. That lends itself to a relaxed feel and the time of year (end of summer beginning of autumn) determined that the colours would be warmer and calming. Google "twilight barn weddings early September" and the results inlcuded all things I was starting to think about including boho-ish style.
By jove I have my theme - things will be so much easier now I know what I want...... won't they?
Sometimes knowing what you don’t want is half the battle! Twilight barn sounds like a great vibe 👏🏻 Saw your post on Facebook earlier. We’ve just finished photo + video for a lovely low-key 50+ wedding in Maidstone/Darrford and it looked absolutely stunning!
